Waneta E. Nowak, 93 years, of Bryan, passed away Sunday, March 9, 2014 in her home with her family at her side. Waneta was born February 21, 1921 in Paulding County, Ohio, the daughter of the late Emery S. and Eunice V. (Billig) Brown. She married Paul J. Nowak on December 2, 1940 in Pioneer, and he preceded her in death on December 29, 2001. Waneta was a devoted homemaker who found great joy in caring for her husband and children. She was a member of Grace Community Church, Bryan. Waneta enjoyed baking and making meals for her family and would never turn away from the opportunity to play any type of card game with her family.
Surviving are her children, Virginia (LeRoy) Hushak of Worthington, Ohio, Paul G. (Susan) Nowak of Tempe, Arizona, Dorothy Lauber of Bryan and Mary (Robert) Crisenbery of Bryan; 12 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Paul; great-grandson, Max R. Crisenbery; one brother, John Brown; one sister, Dorothy Dotterer; two stepsisters, Elaine and Carrie and her special friend, Virginia Beals.
A celebration of the life of Waneta E. Nowak will be held on Thursday, March 13, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Grace Community Church, 206 West Bement Street, Bryan with Pastor Sam Byroads officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church, beginning at 10:00 a.m. Thursday morning. Arrangements are under the care of Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 225 East High Street, Bryan.
