Wauseon Police Department and Wauseon Fire Department warning residents of scammers

The Wauseon Police Department and Wauseon Fire Department are jointly warning area residents to be on the lookout this holiday season for scammers claiming to operate on their behalf. The departments issued a joint statement advising that a lot of fundraisers this time of the year try to tug at the heartstrings and tell people that they are collecting funds that will support your local police and firefighters and, often times, these calls will come from a phone number that appears to be local. However, neither department solicits funds by telephone, for any purpose.
