Williams County Airport officials say they hope to begin construction on the first phase of a taxiway expansion project by the fall of 2018. The airport will move the existing taxiway back from the runway, while extending it 1,700 feet. That extension will bring the taxiway all the way to the western end of the runway, near County Road 16. Airport officials say the taxiway project will improve the safety of the airport and bring it into compliance with Federal Aviation Administration regulations.
