West Unity Village Council voted unanimously Thursday night to move forward towards the purchase of a used vactor truck.
The 1994 truck will cost the village $105,000, and will be used for sewer cleaning and leaf pickup. It replaces a 1980
model that has been in use for around 16 years and has no trade-in value.
According to the Bryan Times, a similar new unit would cost more than $450,000 and lease for $8,500 monthly.
To buy the truck, $15,000 will be taken from each of five funds to provide $75,000. The remaining $30,000 comes from a debt service fund on a one-month loan. The ordinance to support the funding will be voted on at the Aug. 8 council meeting.
