Young Girl Killed in Branch County House Fire

A three-year-old girl was killed last week in a south­ern Michi­gan house fire. Branch County sheriff’s deputies had to restrain the girl’s fam­ily from re-entering the house. It took a half-dozen fire teams about 90 min­utes to extin­guish the blaze, but they were never able to reach the girl due to heavy flames and smoke. Her body was found in the kitchen area a short time later. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
