2,500 SOWS TO ARRIVE IN HICKSVILLE

2,500 sows will soon arrive at their new home at Fox Tail Sow Farm near Hicksville.

The farm on Jeri­cho Road, is owned by Cooper Farms, and is the company’s first in Defi­ance County.

It will employ at least 11 peo­ple full time, and use around 90,000 bushels of corn annu­ally, which will be pur­chased from local farm­ers.

Cooper Farms, accord­ing to the Bryan Times, worked pri­mar­ily with local busi­nesses dur­ing con­struc­tion of the farm. Over 40 con­trac­tors took part, doing any­thing from pour­ing con­crete to elec­tri­cal work.
