A 17-year-old Swanton boy was killed early Tuesday morning after a police chase ended in a crash. It began about 1:30 a.m. near Woodward High School. Toledo police say they tried to pull the car over for a traffic violation, but the 17-year-old driver sped off. The chase went through a neighborhood and ended on Central Avenue near Cherry when the 17-year-old driver lost control of the vehicle.
The car took out two power poles and then rolled over.
The driver and a 16-year-old passenger were taken to St. Vincent’s hospital for their injuries. The driver later died.
Police say the 16-year-old boy has serious injuries from the crash.
