A second area school district in Williams County has changed its policy and will now arm staff members to keep students safe. The Edgerton district said the change is necessary after looking at last year’s national statistics which saw 64 school gun violence incidents and 372 mass shootings, resulting in 475 deaths and 1,870 people injured. Those statistics compiled by the Mass Shooting Tracker organization. The school will not identify the volunteers who will be armed for their own protection. They’ll be trained and the Edgerton policy is in effect for the next school year beginning in August.
