Montpelier man sentenced on sex charges.

A Montpelier man was sentenced Monday to four years community control, mandatory sex counseling and to register as a tier I sex offender. Robert J. Rodriguez previously pleaded guilty to amended charges involving an incident in which he videotaped a 17-year-old victim having sex, then threatened to show the video to others in the future. Rodriguez had a count of pandering sexually-oriented material involving a minor or impaired person, a second-degree felony, amended to a count of gross sexual imposition, a fourth-degree felony. He also pleaded guilty to a count of extortion, a third-degree felony. A second count of pandering sexually-oriented material involving a minor or impaired person was dismissed as part of the agreement. The extortion charge was related to the threat to release the video to a future boyfriend or husband.
