Payne man sentenced in Cary Parsons death

A Payne man was sentenced to a prison for the death of another Payne man. Andrew Martin, 26, was sentenced to a total of six years and 11 months in prison on Monday in Paulding County Common Pleas Court for the Aug. 15 death of Cary Parsons, 50. Parsons was found dead in the kitchen of his home on E. Townline St. in Payne. An autopsy report found that the cause of death was “combined exposure” to ethanol and DEET, an insect repellent. His blood-alcohol level was also 0.19 percent, which is above the legal limit. Martin was accused of manufacturing and providing a controlled substance to Parsons, which contributed to his death.
