Fremont company to expand

A Minnesota glass manufacturer intends to invest nearly $4 million into its Fremont operation. Cardinal IG is the town’s largest employer. They are building an addition onto its 300,000 square-foot plant. The company, which has more than three dozen facilities nationwide, says the decision to grow in northeast Indiana is driven by increased national demand expected in new home construction. Cardinal IG currently has around 300 employees and is planning to add up to 38 jobs over the next three years. Last month, another Fremont employer, Michigan-based Cold Heading Co., announced plans to more than double its work force by adding as many as 30 jobs as part of a $12 million investment.
