Violent offender registry gets renewed interest following recent Joughin murder

The call for a violent offender registry is back in the news in Ohio, after a 20 year old college student was killed while riding her bike, allegedly by a man with a violent past. James Worley is charged with killing Sierah Joughin of Metamora. And now, two legislators are working with the Ohio Attorney General and law enforcement agencies to work on the language of the legislation for the registry. One complaint people have is that requirement would be an invasion of privacy. But one advocate told the Crescent News that the information is already public, and it’s just hard to find without a registry.
