State Sen. Cliff Hite said the Bryan City School district’s new grade six through 12 building is a perfect example of what can be accomplished with the city’s “can-do” attitude. Speaking at Sunday’s dedication of the new school building, Hite recounted how he first learned about this attitude when he was the coach of the Bryan High School football team from 1983 to 1996. The Bryan Times reports after the dedication ceremony, which included Bryan Mayor Doug Johnson proclaiming the day Bryan City Schools Dedication Day, those gathered were allowed to tour the new building. The halls were lined with purple lockers and the new, large school rooms filled with empty desks were ready for the first day of school. Bryan City Schools students return to class today.
