A 15-year-old Montpelier girl was found safe over the weekend, five days after she was reported missing. Mikela Underwood was reported missing as a runaway on Jan. 2 and the Montpelier Police Department posted a request for public assistance on Thursday. Police Chief Dan McGee followed up on Friday with a stern warning, stating “It should be clear that anyone assisting Mikela will be criminally charged.”Underwood came to the police station and turned herself in Saturday afternoon, “unharmed and in good health,” according to McGee. Police have not determined where she was during the time she was missing.
