Dennis L. Strup, 76

Dennis L. Strup, age 76, of Findlay, Ohio, and formerly a longtime resident of both Bryan and Fostoria, Ohio, died at 5:55 A.M. on Sunday, March 26, 2017, at The University of Toledo Medical Center, where he was a patient, after an extended illness. Mr. Strup attended Edon High School and served in the United States Army with the First Battle Group, 3rd Infantry Division, known as the “Old Guard,” the Army’s top Color Guard Marching and Drill Unit. He was a sharpshooter and was honored to escort President Kennedy during his presidential inauguration. Dennis enjoyed travel, cars, spending time with friends and family and keeping up with his children and grandchildren. He especially enjoyed attending his grandsons’ baseball games and was quite a conversationalist. He was also an artist in the kitchen, a skillful home engineer, a baptized Christian and an incredibly proud grandfather.

Dennis L. Strup was born on March 16, 1941, at home in Northwest Township of Williams County, Ohio, the son of Alva O. and Pearl L. (Strawser) Strup. Survivors include the mother of his children, Patricia Shaw St. John; his children, Kelly Strup, of Bryan, Jesse (Robin) Strup, of Park City, Utah, Mindy (Derek) Kummerer, of Arcadia, Ohio, Nathaniel (Kathryn) Strup, of Greensboro, North Carolina, and Johnathan Strup, of Sutton, West Virginia; his grandchildren, Evan and Jenna Strup, Zoë and Mia Strup, Garrett and Kaleb Enders, Peyton and Max Kummerer and honorable grandson, Baby D. Finchum, Bo Strup and Helen Strup; four sisters, June Beal, of Hamilton, Indiana, Helen Goebel, of Edgerton, Ohio, Brenda (Andy) Kelly, of Bronson, Michigan, and Deborah (Nicholas) Dulle, of Edon, Ohio; a sister-in-law, Arlene Strup, of Zephyrhills, Florida; and five brothers, Gary (Ginger) Strup, of Orland, Florida, Marvin (Denise) Strup, of Auburn, Indiana, John (Kim) Huber, of Lake Odessa, Michigan, Lanny Huber, of Bronson, Michigan, and Ray Strup, of Bryan. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Alva Strup, Jr.; a brother-in-law, Larry Goebel; two sons, Baby Boy Strup, in 1974, and Baby Boy Strup, in 1980; and two granddaughters, Shayne Strup and Sybil Kate Strup

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 29, 2017, from 4:00-6:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan. A service of celebration will be held on Thursday, March 30, 2017, at 10:00 A.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, Bryan. Interment with grave side military rites will follow in Edon Cemetery.
