Severe wind has caused as much as $125,000 in damage to power poles in Pioneer

Recent severe wind has caused as much as $125,000 in damage to power poles in Pioneer, though insurance should cover most of the cost. Al Fiser, village administrator, said severe winds near the end of April knocked down several power poles along County Road 15 from Holiday City into Pioneer. Fiser added they were able to rig an electrical feed to Menards from Pioneer, so the distribution center wasn’t out of power for as long as it could have been. Pioneer Mayor Ed Kidston said Menards could have been out for as long as a week if Anthony Burnett, the public works supervisor, hadn’t come up with the idea of “back feeding (Menards) on the 69 line.”
