Driven by revisions due to take effect soon in the state’s concealed carry laws, county commissioners on Thursday held an initial discussion of concealed carry on county properties. The Bryan Times reports the new law, SB199, took effect March 20. Commission vice-president Brian Davis initiated the discussion, saying the county needed to determine a county-wide concealed carry policy that emphasized safety but does not restrict the rights of concealed carry permit holders. Davis suggested that while persons cannot carry on county-owned property, even as a concealed carry permit holder, that an exception be made for the county fairgrounds.
