BRYAN DRUG RAID FOLLOW UP

After Bryan police swooped in on “Addicted To Ink” on Main Street in Bryan on Thurs­day morn­ing to enforce the city’s new ordi­nance pro­hibit­ing the sale, use and pur­chase of syn­thetic drugs and syn­thetic drug looka­likes, not much has changed.

Police con­fis­cated the store’s stock of spice, K2 and sim­i­lar “pot­pourri prod­ucts, but so far, no one has been charged and the store remains open.

The new ordi­nance which was approved one week ago today by Bryan City Coun­cil, makes it pun­ish­able by a $1,000 fine and/or a max­i­mum 180 days in jail if con­victed of sell­ing or pos­sess­ing syn­thetic drugs in the city.

Police say store own­ers and employ­ees will be charged if they attempt to sell, use or pur­chase the stuff again.
