INVESTIGATION RESULTS IN ONE FIRING AND ONE RESIGNATION IN LIBERTY-BENTON SCHOOLS

The Liberty-Benton School District announced Tuesday it will fire one employee, and another has resigned following violations of school board policies about contact between staff members and students.

The school says wrestling coach Shane Troyer will be fired and choral director Bryan Black has resigned following an investigation that found that Troyer violated a number of board policies that involve contact with students of the district, and Black also violated board policies.

School officials say they talked to a number of students during the investigation, and now they believe there were a total of three high school students affected.

The district said information from their investigations has been turned over to Hancock County Children’s Protective Services and to the Ohio Department of Education.

Currently, no word on whether any charges are pending.
