James M. Clark, 86 years, of Bryan, passed away Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at Hillside Country Living, Bryan. Jim was born August 11, 1927 in Norwich, Connecticut, the son of the late William J. and Bertha (Hofmann) Clark. He was a 1945 graduate of Cridersville High School. Jim was an Army veteran serving during the Korean Conflict. He married Phyllis J. Headapohl on November 22, 1953 in Wapakoneta, Ohio. Jim earned his Bachelors of Science Degree from the University of Northwest Ohio, Lima in 1956. He also earned a Bachelor’s of Arts Degree from Bluffton University in 1970. Jim was an accountant for General Tire for 10 years, retiring in 1984. He also taught English at Edon Northwest Schools. He was a member of Pulaski United Methodist Church, Bryan, the Edon Masonic Lodge and was involved in Junior Achievement. Jim enjoyed golfing, fishing and really just being at the lake.
Surviving is his wife, Phyllis of Bryan; one daughter, Linda (Dennis) Scott of Bryan; one son, Joseph M. Clark of Bryan; four grandchildren, Jason (Brenda) Clark of Wapakoneta, Ohio, Allison Clark of Continental, Ohio, Jeremy (Loni) Scott of Bryan and Tracey (Bob) Carter of Bryan; ten great-grandchildren and one sister, Joan Hinkle of Lakeview, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Jonathan Clark; his brother, Charles William Marshall Clark; his brother-in-law, Albert Hinkle and one sister-in-law, Janet Clark.
At Jim’s request, there will be no visitation or public services. Arrangements are under the care of Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 225 East High Street, Bryan.
