21-year-old Detroit man arrested in connection to a shooting in Garrett that injured a teenager.

A 21-year-old Detroit man is arrested…in connection to a shooting in Garrett that injured a teenager, according to Indiana State Police. Authorities arrested Kerry Hawkins and charged him with one count of attempted murder, a Level 1 felony. Hawkins is currently being held in the DeKalb County Jail on a $200,000 dollar cash bond. A public information officer with ISP confirmed detectives and a crime scene investigator were helping the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office with a shooting investigation at a trailer park on Garrett’s north side. Officers could be seen combing the perimeter of a pond in North Pointe Crossing. Officials say…a 16-year-old boy was taken to a local hospital in stable condition. Hawkins had an initial hearing in DeKalb Superior Court.
