In Pioneer, during this week’s North Central school board meeting, the possibility of bringing a levy to voters comes up for discussion. Treasurer Eric Smeltzer tells the board the district’s five-year forecast does not look promising without additional revenue. Officials say for a levy to be brought forward in March, the board would have to make a decision soon. Resolutions would have to be passed in both November and December. The board previously accepted a tax abatement agreement with AquaBounty Technologies in 2021 in which the company would make an estimated a $10.9 million donation to the district, over a period of 15 years.
