Toledo man detained for reportedly threatening to assassinate VP.

When the vice president visited Toledo in January, a Toledo man was detained for reportedly threatening to assassinate him. 33 year old Shannon Mathre was indicted by a grand jury on charges of obtaining and disseminating documents related to child sexual abuse, in addition to the threat to kill JD Vance. According to the indictment, Mathre allegedly stated, “I am going to find out where he (the vice president) is going to be and use my M14 automatic gun and shoot him,” perhaps the day before Vance’s visit to Toledo on January 22nd. The indictment doesn’t say how the threat was made, but Attorney General Pam Bondi said, “You can hide behind a screen, but you cannot hide from the Department of Justice.”
