The family-friendly eatery company Bob Evans, which was established and is based in central Ohio, has a new owner. On February 4, 4×4 Capital, an investment firm based in New York, revealed that it had purchased Bob Evans Restaurants. Golden Gate Capital, a private equity business based in San Francisco, will no longer own the 78-year-old brand. The transaction’s terms were not revealed. Bob Evans employs more than 15,000 people and runs more than 400 restaurants across 18 states. The New Albany-based business has its origins in a 12-seat restaurant in Gallipolis, Ohio, which was founded by Bob Evans in 1948.
