Bryan School Construction Plans

Today and Wednes­day a team of com­mu­nity vol­un­teers and school staff mem­bers in Bryan is work­ing on the devel­op­ment of sug­ges­tions to help guide the Bryan school board in the project details of the new school con­struc­tion.

Bryan City Schools Super­in­ten­dent Diana Sav­age told the Bryan Times that approx­i­mately 50 peo­ple will serve on the com­mit­tee. Half of those serv­ing are com­mu­nity vol­un­teers and the other half are school dis­trict staff mem­bers.

Also tak­ing part in the plan­ning ses­sion will be rep­re­sen­ta­tives of the archi­tec­tural firm for the project, and rep­re­sen­ta­tives of the Ohio Facil­i­ties Con­struc­tion Com­mis­sion.

The project involves con­struc­tion of a new mid­dle school-high school to house grades six to 12 at the cur­rent mid­dle school site, ren­o­vat­ing the mid­dle school to house grades pre-K to five, and demol­ish­ing the Lin­coln and Wash­ing­ton ele­men­tary schools and the high school.

The total for the project is $53.9 mil­lion, of which $18.9 mil­lion will be funded by the state.
