Final decision regarding resurfacing project in Pioneer will be made in July.

A final decision regarding a resurfacing project in Pioneer will be made during the July meeting, allowing officials time to obtain an estimate for a smaller project.  Patching holes and perhaps adding some wedging to Highpoint and Lakeshore drives would be a smaller undertaking. Village officials would apply for grant financing for a complete replacement of the waterline and road if this course is followed.  The initial plan was to evaluate local property owners for a road resurfacing project. However, authorities stated last month that they anticipated a second assessment of property owners as a result of the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency requiring the village to replace asbestos waterlines in that region during the assessment period.
