The Ohio Supreme Court promptly removed Sandusky County Common Pleas Judge Jon Ickes from judicial office without pay and prohibited him from practicing law for two years. A recommendation from the Ohio Board of Professional Conduct that would have handed Ickes a one-year ban that was entirely stayed-that is, he could have continued on the bench as long as he didn’t commit any more misconduct-was rejected by the 5-2 ruling.
