Highway Patrol Investigates Fatal Traffic Crash early this morning.

The Swanton Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal traffic crash that occurred on August 19, 2026, at approximately 3:55AM. On Interstate 80 (Ohio Turnpike) near milepost 75 in Woodville Township, Sandusky County. The crash occurred when Melody K. Wilburn, age 49 of Oak Harbor, Ohio was traveling eastbound on Interstate 80 near milepost 75 in a 2014 GMC Terrain. Wilburn’s vehicle traveled off of the right side of the roadway and into a ditch. Wilburn was pronounced deceased at the scene of the incident. Wilburn was not wearing a safety belt at the time of the incident and impairment is not suspected of being a factor in the crash.
The crash remains under investigation.
