Defiance Native Honored

A Defiance native and Army recruit was recognized at the Pentagon last month for her work as a sexual assault prevention advocate.

The Crescent News reports that 22 year old Natasha (Woodruff) Schuette was one of three women honored during a Pentagon ceremony commending the women for their character, courage and commitment to Army values.

Schuette, who is a 2010 Tinora grad, was honored for the work she has done to call attention to sexual abuse and assault in the military.

Schuette was nominated for the award by a civilian who saw a video about her own reported abuse.

She was in good company.

Other honorees included 106-year-old World War II veteran Alyce Dixon, and Tracey Pinson, the Army’s highest-ranking African-American senior executive service member and director of the Army’s Small Business Program.

Shuette is now stationed at Fort Bragg, in North Carolina.
