Raymond Sindel, age 84, of Delta passed away early Thursday April 24, 2014 at Swanton Health Care. Prior to his retirement he had been a Carpenter and Supervisor at many area construction firms.
Mr. Sindel was born in Fulton County, Ohio on January 7, 1930 the son of the late Walter and the late Elizabeth (Claxton) Sindel. On January 8, 1950 he married the former Charlene Ulrich. He was a member of the Delta United Methodist Church. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge, the Elks Lodge, the Eagles Lodge, and was a former high school football and basketball referee and baseball coach. He was an avid golfer also. Mr. Sindel was known for his love of humor, often regaling his family and friends with story telling and limericks. He was always quick to help friends and family with his carpentry skills.
Surviving besides his wife Charlene are two daughters; Roxanne (Jim) Demaline and Cheryl (Mike) Yeager, foster son; David (Staci) Yeager, grandchildren; Nicole Starkey, Michelle Yarnell, Jason Yeager, Judd Demaline, Alex Yeager, foster grandsons; Marc Yeager, Bart Yeager and Lindsay Yeager. Also surviving are great-grandchildren; Desmond, Sonya, Austin and Raven Yarnell, Tristen and Aislynn Ward, Rex Starkey, Scarlett Demaline and Bryce Yeager. Preceding him in death besides his parents was Step-Mother; Marge (Dennis) Sindel, sisters Jan Nitzberg and Jean Neff, son Kevin Sindel, grand-daughter, Alisha Demaline and step-brother Dale Dennis. Also preceding him in death were brothers-in-law; Ed Neff and Max Ulrich.
Cremation has taken place with a memorial service being planned at a later date. The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to the Delta Parks and Recreation Department. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.GrisierFH.com.
