The National Weather Service has confirmed that a tornado touched down in northern Hillsboro County last week. The tornado struck just after 6:20pm on April 9 with straight-line winds estimated at 85 miles-per-hour. Damage was minimal, though a barn was pushed off its foundation, and two trees landed on an abandoned home. The storm traveled just over two miles on the ground and was estimated to be about 300 yards wide.
