Investigation Continues Into Firehouse Fire

The investigation continues today into a fire that destroyed the Florence Township Fire Department in Williams County on Sunday. Two firefighters were taken to the hosptial, but no word yet on the nature or extent of their injuries. It happened around 7 Sunday evening, when flames reportedly broke out in the apparatus area of the fire department on South Michigan Street in Edon. Firefighters got the grass rig out, but the majority of the department’s equipment, including two engines, a tanker and heavy rescue truck, were lost in the fire. The fire department was set to be a polling station for today’s election. Residents should now go to the Edon Community Center on Parkway Street to vote. If you would like to donate to assist the Edon firefighters following Sunday’s fire..an account has been established at the Edon State Bank under the Edon Ministerial Association. Donations are being accepted there for the forseeable future.
