General Motors Defiance Casting Operations is holding an open house, and if you go, you will get a chance to view new GM vehicles in addition to the factory where they are built. A vehicle showcase and open house will be held from 3–6 p.m. May 14 at the plant in Defiance. It’s all sponsored by GM Defiance Casting Operations and UAW Local 211. A similar event held last year drew a crowd of close to 1,000 people. GM says the event allows them to showcase products, and is a community outreach effort. It’s free, but you do need to pre-register for the tour, which is open to anyone 13 or older. In addition to the tours and vehicle showcase, there will be a veterans’ display at the event to honor those in the military, along with rides and drives of vehicles and educational activities. Most of the activities will be outside. Light refreshments will be available, and GM retirees are invited to come back and bring their families.
