The Florence Township fire department suffered a devastating fire May 2nd. The fire station was heavily damaged, the all four of the township’s fire trucks were destroyed in the blaze. The Bryan Times today, is reporting that a special meeting was called by the Bryan City Counci on Tuesday, and Bryan officials have agreed to lease a fully equipped reserve engine to Florence Township… for just $1 a year. The truck is available immediately. On May 2nd, the Florence Township Fire Department lost two engines, a tanker and a grass rig, along with ladders, hoses, helmets and protective gear in that fire. The total dollar amount of the loss has still not been totalled, and while the official cause of the blaze has yet to be determined, so far, it is believed to have originated in one of the vehicles, and is being called electrical in nature. Meanwhile, the city of Wauseon also donated a fire engine and the Lucas County Commissioners agreed to donate a fire rescue truck to the township on Tuesday too.
