Flood Waters Continue To Recede

Flood waters on Wednes­day, con­tin­ued to recede, and the cleanup began in numer­ous areas where debris from flood­ing was left behind. Many peo­ple and offi­cials are now assess­ing dam­age. Both Pauld­ing and Henry coun­ties declared dis­as­ter areas because of flood­ing. The National Weather Ser­vice says that more than eight inches of rain fell in Defi­ance dur­ing June. The weather ser­vice also says that strength­en­ing El Nino sys­tems mean we could be in for more wet peri­ods until August. The weather ser­vice is pre­dict­ing about a 50 per­cent chance of above aver­age rain­fall for July.
