A Fremont High School student died Tuesday night at Parkview Regional Medical Center from injuries he suffered in a tree cutting accident. 16-year-old Colin Book, according to the coroner’s report, died from blunt force trauma. The accident happened around 4:40PM Tuesday near St. Paul’s Catholic Chapel. Book was part of a tree crew. When rescue crews arrived, he was unresponsive. Book was flown from the scene of the accident to the hospital, where he later died. The Steuben County Sheriff’s Department continues to investigate, and Fremont Schools are providing counseling support for grieving students and staff.
