ACCUSED RAPIST HEADED TO TRIAL

A man accused of rap­ing three young girls between 1999 to 2010 will stand trial in Williams County Com­mon Pleas Court.

40 year old Daniel Bignell Jr of Mont­pe­lier faces 14 felony counts of sex­ual abuse.

Accord­ing to The Bryan Times, the alleged crimes involve three girls. Each knew Bignell and all were under the age of 13 when the assaults began.

Bignell was arrested in Sep­tem­ber on a secret indict­ment. On Oct. 3, he pled not guilty to all counts includ­ing four counts of gross sex­ual impo­si­tion, five counts of rape, two counts of attempted rape and three counts of kid­nap­ping.

Bignell is being held at the Cor­rec­tions Cen­ter of North­west Ohio in lieu of a $1 mil­lion bond.

If con­victed of rape or kid­nap­ping with sex­ual moti­va­tion, Bignell faces a max­i­mum sen­tence of life in prison.
