Admitted Rapist To Be Sentenced

A man who has been convicted of rape twice will be sentenced today in Williams County Court. 28 year old Richard Mojica Jr. of Bryan, faces the possibility of as much as 21 years in prison. No matter what the length of his time behind bars will be, Mojica will be required to register as a Tier III sex offender for life. Mojica was indicted by a Williams County grand jury in December and pleaded guilty last week to engaging in sexual conduct with a woman when the woman’s ability to resist or consent was substantially impaired because of a mental or physical condition.

Mojica also, according to prosecutors, used force or the threat of force to compel the victim to submit to sexual conduct. Mojica has prior convictions in Bryan Municipal Court for domestic violence and resisting arrest, both in 2011.
