After 40 years of being closed to the public, the stairs leading to the Carnegie Library in Bryan are open. The Williams County Public Library Bryan branch held a ribbon cutting and open house for the stairs and other renovations at the library on Sunday. Fixing the stairs was something the former library director told reporters he wanted to do his entire career, which spanned more than 40 years. The project started before his retirement earlier this year. Other upgrades made to the Bryan branch over the last five years include renovations to the adult library, reimagining the children’s library and creating a special garden area by it, while establishing a new programming room and creating a state of the art computer lab.
