As Ohioans get into the holiday season, shoppers throughout the state are looking for bargains and scammers are looking for distracted shoppers. Attorney General Mike DeWine says there are con artists pose as sellers online, taking money for things they never deliver. He says there are also charity scams where thieves solicit money for themselves instead of the charity they claim to help. Dewine reminds Ohioans of the old adage that, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. DeWine advises Ohioans to use their credit cards for holiday shopping because there would be more recourse for consumers if they are scammed.
