Angola Man Killed In I-69 Crash

The man who died in a crash on the north side of Fort Wayne last Thurs­day has been iden­ti­fied. Accord­ing to the Allen County Coroner’s Office, 40 year old Nel­son Hyatt of Angola was killed in the acci­dent on I-69 north of Union Chapel Road. Hyatt was north­bound in a pickup truck at around 5:30pm last Thurs­day, when his vehi­cle went through the median and then hit the rear axle of a south­bound semi tanker, tear­ing the axle off com­pletely off. Hyatt’s pickup burst into flames. Blunt force trauma was listed as the cause of death. Hyatt’s death was the 19th traf­fic fatal­ity in Fort Wayne and Allen County so far this year.
