In Steuben County Court on Monday, one of the four people who were arrested in a methamphetamine bust near Hamilton in April of 2014 was sentenced. 36-year-old Leslie Swindell pled guilty last February to aiding in dealing methamphetamine, a felony. Swindell learned yesterday that he will have to serve 8 years behind bars of a 12 year sentence, and four years of probation. Swindell will also have to pay restitution, but that figure will be calculated later. He also, if he wants to play by the rules of a plea deal anyway, will have to testify against a co-defendant. Prosecutors dismissed four other charges in the plea agreement, and Swindell was also given credit for 528 days that he has already been locked up.
