Archbold’s got a big day coming… actually five days of fun, celebrating the village’s sesquicentennial. Organizers have been working for three years to make the 150th birthday party successful. The five days of fun include street parties, a parade, fireworks and more. It kicks off today. A community worship service inside Sauder Village’s Founder’s Hall will begin the celebration tonight at 7:30 p.m. on Ohio 2. Among the other events, the village’s history will play out on stage as the Archbold Community Theater presents “Archbold, the Village That Could,” an original play penned by Archbold native Brenda Schleunes, founder and artistic director of the Touring Theatre of North Carolina. It’ll run Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings at 7:30 p.m., then a 2:30 p.m Sunday matinee in the Archbold High School auditorium. The parade is Saturday at 10:30 at ConAgra, a community picnic right after and fireworks cap off the night Saturday at Memorial Park at 10 p.m.
