Area Road Fatality

A man who was airlifted from a wreck scene Monday has succumbed to his injuries. The Hillsdale County Sheriff’s Department says that 34-year-old Matthew Depew passed away after being flown to the Fulton County Health Center. Depew was airlifted from the scene of a wreck on Bankers Road. He was driving westbound on Bankers Road when he began to swerve, lost control of his vehicle, and struck a tree on the north side of the road. The vehicle came to rest in the front yard of a nearby residence. Fire & Rescue crews had to use rescue tools to extract Depew from the vehicle. The crash remains under investigation with the Hillsdale County Sheriff’s Office.
