Montpelier Schools is forecasting several years of deficit spending in the coming years. Officials tell reporters they are expecting roughly $1.5 million dollars in deficit spending by the end of 2024. The coronavirus isn’t helping the situation, officials expect a 5% drop in revenue from income tax because of it. The board and administration will monitor spending, work to reduce personnel through attrition and retirements, when possible and reduce capital expenditures for the next four years.
