Asbestos Suit Filed

A jury trial that began Wednesday in Defiance County Common Pleas Court, is expected to continue today. It concerns a woman’s claim that asbestos exposure at Defiance’s General Motors plant caused the death of her husband, who worked there.

Loretta Bryant of Defiance, filed the lawsuit in 2009, after the death of her husband, Ivan Bryant, who died from lung cancer in 2007.

The Crescent News reports that Loretta Bryant is seeking a judgment that would allow her to “participate in the workers compensation fund for widow’s benefits as a result of her husband’s occupational disease and subsequent death and that such funding be certified to the Industrial Commission of Ohio and Bureau of Workers Compensation as provided by law.”
