County commissioners met with Dave Newcomer, president of the Williams County Port Authority, about Newcomer’s efforts to secure a firm or someone to oversee financial accounting for the Authority. It was revived in 2015 after a period of dormancy, and has ramped up its efforts in the past couple of years. Those efforts included focusing in on the task of trying to help create housing in the county, along with other economic development efforts. During the last six decades, Ohio Port Authorities have evolved from organizations involved solely with maritime commerce to taking on a role in local economic development.
