Ayersville Local Board of Education met in special session Wednesday afternoon to take action on a grievance and unfair labor practice settlement filed through the State Employment Relations Board (SERB). The board rejected the settlement by a vote of 3-2. The board had initially appealed SERB’s order concerning the nature of the athletic director’s position. An unfair labor practice complaint was filed by the Ayersville Education Association in July 2015. SERB ordered that the school board desist from “refusing to bargain collectively with the exclusive representative of its employees by unilaterally reassigning the athletic director duties to a non-bargaining unit position.”
