Presidents and CEOs for some of Indiana’s biggest employers have signed a letter, urging state lawmakers to pass a comprehensive hate crime bill. Pharmaceutical giant, Eli Lilly…engine maker Cummins, and 20 other organizations say Indiana needs a hate crime law that lists specific classes including race, religion, sexual orientation, gender and age. The current bill, which was referred to the Indiana House on Feb. 22, states a judge can consider bias in general as an aggravating circumstance…that’s all. Indiana is one of five states without a hate crimes law.
