Brown’s Bakery on Downs Street in Defiance is up for a sealed bid sale. Bids will be accepted until June 12th on the 46,639-square-foot building, which housed the 140-year-old bakery. It still has its baking lines in place as well as bakery machinery and equipment. It’s a ready to go bakery waiting for a new owner according to the real estate company handling the sale.
The facility closed its doors last November when Hostess ceased operations nationwide.
Brown’s Bakery first opened in Defiance in 1873. It’s been at the Downs Street location in 1938.
